.agency pricing

Live pricing is temporarily unavailable for .agency.

Live pricing is temporarily unavailable. Search the name you want, or ask us and we will quote it.

Before you register .agency

What the price includes

Every .agency amount on this page is resolved by the same pricing engine that charges your cart, at the moment the page is built. There is no separate ICANN fee, agency fee or surcharge added later — the figure you see is the figure you pay, in the currency shown.

Premium and reserved names

Some names are classed as premium by the registry and priced individually, usually at the premium rate every year rather than only the first. Search the exact name to see its own quote. If a name's premium status or price changes between your quote and your purchase, the quote is invalidated rather than quietly repriced.

Renewal is not automatic unless you switch it on

Auto-renew is off unless you enable it, and enabling it sets a flag at the registry rather than scheduling a charge here. We email the registrant address before a name expires, so keep a monitored address on the record. If a .agency name does lapse, restoring it costs considerably more than renewing it would have — the restore price is in the table above.

Transfers

Transferring .agency to us needs the AuthInfo (EPP) code from your current registrar, which they are obliged to give you on request. Where the registry operates a waiting period before a name may move — ICANN imposes one on generic extensions — it is set out in the facts above. That is registry policy, not ours, and we cannot waive it.

Eligibility

Open to anyone, anywhere

Registry: Binky Moon, LLC, part of Identity Digital.

  • No eligibility test. You do not need to be a registered agency, hold a trade licence, or show any particular line of business to register one.

  • No documentary evidence and no validation step, so registration completes immediately when the name is available.

  • Labels run 3 to 63 characters using letters, digits and hyphens, and internationalised labels are accepted in a range of scripts, German, French, Greek and Cyrillic among them.

  • Identity Digital reserves a body of names, premium ones included, and can add to that list at any time. A name that looks free in a search may still be withheld or offered only at a premium tier.

What .agency buys you as a name

The value of .agency is not the suffix on its own, it is the word you get to reclaim on the left. A studio called Northfield has almost certainly lost northfield.com, and the usual fixes, northfieldcreative.com or northfield-agency.com, are longer and harder to say aloud. northfield.agency says the same thing in fewer characters and survives being read out over a phone.

It also reads as a professional-services extension rather than a technical one. That is a real constraint as well as a benefit. In practice the buyers who make it work are creative, design, branding, media-buying, PR and digital marketing shops, where the word agency is how the business already describes itself. Where the word means something else in your sector, a recruitment agency, a public agency, an insurance intermediary, the label will be read as marketing and you will spend time correcting people.

The registry behind it, and what we handle

IANA records the sponsoring organisation for .agency as Binky Moon, LLC, one of the entities Identity Digital contracts through, with the extension delegated in January 2014. Identity Digital runs it under a standard ICANN registry agreement, which is why the term, the transfer rules and the expiry sequence are the ordinary gTLD ones rather than anything bespoke. The registry publishes an acceptable use policy, an IDN policy and a reserved names policy, and it can move names in and out of the reserved and premium sets at its own discretion.

We register .agency through Openprovider as an approved reseller, so no additional registrant data is required beyond the standard contact set, and there is no trustee or local-presence service to buy. What we do add is the operational layer: we hold the expiry reminders, we can act inside the 40-day post-expiry window at the normal renewal price, and if a name has already fallen into redemption we tell you plainly that a restore is the only route and what it will cost before you commit to it.

Terms and lifecycle

What holding a .agency actually commits you to

Term
One to ten years, bought up front. The registry does not chase you for renewal, the registrar does, so ICANN requires us to send an expiry reminder roughly a month before and again roughly a week before.
If you miss the renewal
The name first sits in the registry auto-renew grace period, up to 45 days, and through Openprovider we can renew it at the ordinary price for 40 days after expiry. Once it is deleted, ICANN's 30-day redemption period begins: DNS is switched off, transfers out are blocked, and only a restore brings it back, at the restore price shown above rather than a renewal price. Then 5 days of pending delete, and it is gone.
Transfer lock
ICANN's Transfer Policy blocks an inter-registrar transfer for 60 days after registration and for 60 days after a previous transfer. To move one to us you need the AuthInfo code, which your current registrar must issue within 5 calendar days of your request.
Registrant brand protection
Identity Digital operates the Domains Protected Marks List, which blocks a mark recorded in the Trademark Clearinghouse across the registry's extensions rather than registering each one. A blocked label does not resolve and cannot host anything, so it defends a name without giving you a usable domain.
Name checks before you buy
Premium tiering is applied by the registry per name, so check the price the search returns rather than assuming the standard rate — a tiered name renews at its tier every year, not just in the first one.

Fit

Who .agency is for

  • Studios whose .com is taken

Most one-word agency names went in the .com land grab twenty years ago. On .agency the same word is often still free, and dropping the word agency from the label leaves a shorter, more readable name than a hyphenated .com workaround.

  • Campaign and sub-brand sites

Agencies spin up microsites, pitch decks and client-facing portals constantly. A short .agency label keeps those under a namespace that says what the parent company is, without burying them in subdirectories of the main site.

  • When .com is the better buy

If your clients are mid-market buyers who type domains rather than search for them, or if a decent .com is genuinely available, take the .com. .agency also reads as a marketing or creative business, so a staffing agency, a government agency or an insurance broker will confuse people with it.

Working with Zurich clients?

A .zuerich name next to your .agency puts the city in the address, which matters more to local buyers than the sector suffix does. The eligibility rules and the registry are different, so it is worth reading before you buy.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to be an agency to register an .agency domain?

No. .agency has no eligibility rules at all. There is no requirement to be a registered agency, to hold a licence, or to document what your business does. Registration is immediate once the name is available.

How long can I register an .agency domain for?

From one to ten years in a single registration. Renewal is handled by the registrar rather than the registry, so we send the ICANN-mandated expiry notices about a month and about a week before the date.

What happens if I let an .agency domain expire?

It enters the registry auto-renew grace period first, and we can still renew it at the ordinary price for 40 days after expiry. After deletion, ICANN's 30-day redemption period applies: the domain stops resolving, cannot be transferred away, and can only be recovered by paying the restore price. Five days of pending delete follow, then anyone can register it.

Can I transfer an .agency domain to you straight away?

Not if it was registered or transferred within the last 60 days, because ICANN's Transfer Policy locks gTLDs for 60 days after both events. Otherwise, ask your current registrar for the AuthInfo code, which they must provide within 5 calendar days, and start the transfer here.

Why is the price different for some .agency names?

Identity Digital classifies certain labels as premium and prices them individually, and the premium rate normally applies to renewal as well as the first registration. The search above returns the actual price for the specific name, so check it before you plan a portfolio around a short label.
