.site

Register a .site domain

A four-letter Radix extension, delegated in March 2015 and open to anyone. It is the practical choice for a second web property, a campaign page or a client site that needs its own address.

Each figure is the total for that whole term, resolved live from the same pricing engine that charges your cart, so this page cannot advertise an amount checkout will not honour. Only the terms this registry actually sells are shown; an em-dash means that term is not on offer. A crossed-out price is a standing price a running promotion undercuts. Premium names are priced individually — search the exact name to see its own quote.

Before you register .site

What the price includes

Every .site amount on this page is resolved by the same pricing engine that charges your cart, at the moment the page is built. There is no separate ICANN fee, agency fee or surcharge added later — the figure you see is the figure you pay, in the currency shown.

Premium and reserved names

Some names are classed as premium by the registry and priced individually, usually at the premium rate every year rather than only the first. Search the exact name to see its own quote. If a name's premium status or price changes between your quote and your purchase, the quote is invalidated rather than quietly repriced.

Renewal is not automatic unless you switch it on

Auto-renew is off unless you enable it, and enabling it sets a flag at the registry rather than scheduling a charge here. We email the registrant address before a name expires, so keep a monitored address on the record. If a .site name does lapse, restoring it costs considerably more than renewing it would have — the restore price is in the table above.

Transfers

Transferring .site to us needs the AuthInfo (EPP) code from your current registrar, which they are obliged to give you on request. Where the registry operates a waiting period before a name may move — ICANN imposes one on generic extensions — it is set out in the facts above. That is registry policy, not ours, and we cannot waive it.

Eligibility

Open to anyone, with no documents and no waiting

Registry: Radix Technologies Inc. SEZC, Cayman Islands, with technical registry operations run by Tucows.com, Co..

  • No residency, trade register entry or industry test applies. Radix's only registrant conditions belonged to the 2015 launch phases, when a Sunrise application had to be backed by a trademark validated through the Trademark Clearinghouse.

  • Registration is immediate when the name is free, so there is no validation delay to plan a launch around. That matters more here than elsewhere, because .site is commonly bought for a campaign with a fixed date.

  • Some names are unavailable rather than taken: Radix operates a reserved names policy covering strings it holds back, and its acceptable use and anti-abuse policy lets it suspend a registration, with a published unsuspension request route.

  • Internationalised labels are supported, with ten .site IDN tables registered in IANA's Practices Repository covering Arabic, Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Lao, Thai and Chinese.

Where .site fits, and how it differs from .online

The two extensions share a registry and a lifecycle, and they suit different purchases. .online completes a phrase about a business that operates without a shop front. .site describes a single web property, which is why it works for a campaign page, a portfolio, a documentation site or a client build that needs its own address rather than a folder on someone else's domain. If you are naming the company, look elsewhere; if you are naming a page, this is the more accurate word.

The practical arguments are length and availability. Four characters keep the address short enough to print on a flyer or read out on a call, and because .site has not been picked over the way three-letter extensions have, sensible two-word combinations remain free at standard rather than premium pricing. Buy it for what it says, not as a cheaper substitute for a name you actually wanted.

The registry behind it and what we do as reseller

IANA records the sponsoring organisation as Radix Technologies Inc. SEZC in the Cayman Islands. The extension was delegated to DotSite Inc. in March 2015, transferred to Radix FZC in August 2021 and to the current entity in February 2024, with technical registry operations contracted to Tucows. Radix publishes its policies openly, including a reserved names policy, a WHOIS access policy, an acceptable use and anti-abuse policy and a DNSSEC practice statement.

The anti-abuse policy is worth reading before you buy if the site will host user-generated content, because it gives the registry authority to suspend, cancel or transfer a registration for abuse, legal compliance or stability reasons, with an unsuspension request as the route back. We are an Openprovider reseller, not the registry, so we cannot override a registry suspension or a premium price category. What we do control is disclosure: registration, renewal, transfer and restore are all shown for the exact name you searched before you commit to it.

Terms and lifecycle

What holding a .site actually commits you to

Term
One to ten years, bought in whole-year increments, which is what ICANN's base registry agreement requires the registry to make available. Renewals extend the registration but can never place it more than ten years beyond the renewal date.
Expiry and redemption
After the expiry date the name stays renewable for a window capped at 45 days by ICANN's deletion policy, with DNS interrupted for at least the last 8 days of it. Deletion opens a 30-day redemption period, in which the registry blocks transfers and DNS while you alone can restore the name for the restore fee shown above, and then 5 days of pending delete before release.
Transfer
You need the auth code from your current registrar. As a gTLD, .site carries ICANN's 60-day locks after registration, after a previous transfer and after a change of registrant that was not opted out of in advance. These are consensus policy, applied identically at every registrar, and the March 2025 revision reducing them to 720 hours had not taken effect as of August 2026.
Registrant records and WHOIS
Radix publishes a WHOIS access policy and runs the extension under UDRP and URS, with its Sunrise dispute procedure administered by the National Arbitration Forum. Registrant contact details are collected through the registrar, and it is the registrar's job to keep them current.
Premium name allocation and DNSSEC
Short dictionary words are typically reserved as premium and carry their own registration and renewal fees set by the registry, so a premium name renews at a premium price for as long as you hold it. The zone is signed with its DS record in the root, so DNSSEC can be enabled.

Fit

Who .site is for

  • Campaigns and microsites

A launch, an event or a product page that needs to stand apart from the main domain fits .site precisely. It is short enough to print, and it does not pretend to be the company's primary identity.

  • Agencies running client estates

When you build and host many small sites, .site gives a consistent, cheap naming pattern for staging, demo and handover properties without borrowing subdomains from your own brand. Radix publishes over 1.9 million .site domains under management, so availability for ordinary two-word names is still realistic.

  • Rarely the right primary address

For a Swiss business the address customers guess is .ch, and for an international one it is usually the .com. .site works as a supporting name; as the only name on your invoices and vans it will cost you traffic you never see.

The address Swiss customers guess first

If this .site will front a business selling into Switzerland, the .ch belongs next to it. It is open to anyone with no residency test and no approval step, and it is what people type before they search.

Frequently asked questions

Are there any eligibility rules for .site?

None. Radix applies no residency, company or trademark test to a standard .site registration; those conditions only ever applied to the 2015 Sunrise phase. Registration is immediate when the name is available.

What is the difference between .site and .online?

They share a registry, a lifecycle and a policy set, so the difference is what the word claims. .site names a single web property, which suits campaigns, portfolios and client builds. .online describes a business that trades without a physical presence. Neither is restricted, and both accept the same ten IDN scripts.

What happens if I forget to renew a .site domain?

The name stays renewable after expiry for a window capped at 45 days, with DNS interrupted for at least the last 8 days. Once deleted it enters a 30-day redemption period where transfers and DNS are blocked and only you can restore it, for the restore fee shown above, and 5 days of pending delete follow before anyone else can register it.

Can I transfer my .site domain in from another registrar?

Yes, with the auth code from your current registrar, provided the name is not inside one of the ICANN 60-day locks that follow a registration, an earlier transfer or a change of registrant. The transfer extends the registration by a year unless it is ordered inside the previous registrar's auto-renew grace period.

Why do some .site names cost more than others?

Short, memorable dictionary words are reserved by the registry as premium and placed in their own price categories with custom registration and renewal fees. A premium name behaves normally in every other respect, but it renews at its premium price each year, which is why the renewal figure is shown next to the registration one.
